NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Earlham College volleyball team went 0-2 against Muskingum and Marietta in the Muskingum Tournament on Saturday.
GAME ONE: EARLHAM 0 MUSKINGUM 3 (25-19, 25-16, 25-17)
First year
Caylee Brandes led the Quakers in kills in the opener with seven.
Maria Young, Anniyah Harrington, and
Lily Virgili all recorded six kills in the match.
Ava Walters led the setters with 22 assists.
Meg Kobman scored two serving aces, and
Lauren Newcomer led the defense with 16 digs.
The Quakers attacked at a .119 clip as a team, and recorded just one block at the net. Muskingum had just six errors on the day, and put up a .315 team attack percentage.
GAME TWO: EARLHAM 1 MARIETTA 3 (25-20, 20-25, 25-19, 25-19)
Young and Brandes both scored 14 kills in the final game of the tournament. The pair also combined for a .239 hitting percentage. Walters dished out 25 assists in the match, and scored a serving ace. Newcomer collected 18 digs.
Earlham attacked at a .138 clip, and scored 45 kills as a team.
Earlham returns to Druley Performance Gym for its home opener on Tuesday evening. The match is scheduled for 7 pm against Ohio Wesleyan.
