RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's soccer team continued conference play with a 3-2 thriller against Berea on Wednesday afternoon.
Orin Gentner gave the Quakers a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute with a goal assisted by
Mason Paul on a corner kick. The Quakers then carried the 1-0 lead into halftime.
In the 55th minute, the Mountaineers got on the board with a score. Berea then capitalized on a penalty kick for a go-ahead goal in the 62nd minute.
In the 77th minute, Paul intercepted a Berea pass and took a deep shot from the right side of the field and over the goalkeeper for a second Quaker score.
Berea then came back in the 87th minute, and put a shot through a crowded penalty area where it deflected into the goal.
On the day, Earlham was outshot 19-15, but had an advantage in shots on goal 9-8.
Rhoi Phulusa led the attack with five shots, including breakaway opportunities behind the Mountaineer defense. He placed two shots on frame.
Ryland Wamsley collected five saves in goal.
The Quakers host Hanover College on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day in Matlack-Messer Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
