RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's soccer team finished its 2024 regular season with a 1-1 tie to Bluffton University in Matlack-Messer Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
After subbing into the game less than a minute earlier,
Oscar Gomez scored his first collegiate goal in the 66th minute.
Braden Guinn was sent deep on a near-side through ball by
Andre Moriel, Guinn then delivered a cross in front of the Beaver goal that was deflected far side by Gomez.
With playoff hopes on the line for both teams, the Beavers responded in the 71st minute with a goal scored on a free kick play just outside the Quaker penalty area.
The Quakers were outshot 22-8, but held a lead and possession in the second half.
Markku Laukkanen led the Quaker offense with three shots, and two on goal.
Ryland Wamsley set a new career-high with 10 saves.
The Quakers finish the season with a 3-5-1 record and 10 points in HCAC play. Earlham will finish in seventh place in the conference standings with the best conference record for the program since 2017.
