RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College volleyball team swept Franklin College with a three-set win on Saturday afternoon in Druley Performance Gym.
Caylee Brandes led the Quakers with 15 kills and a .464 hitting percentage. Anniyah Harrington scored 10 kills with a .692 percentage. The pair committed just three errors in the match. As a team, the Quakers hit at a .469 clip, and had six errors with 51 kills.
Ava Walters dished out 24 assists and served up two aces.
Sydney Bleyle had one ace, and 16 assists.
Madison Bizjak led the back line with 15 digs and two aces, while
Addison Piatt had 12 digs.
The Quakers took a 9-3 lead early in set one, and scored five-straight later in the frame to lead 17-8. As a team, the Quakers did not record an attacking error in the set, and had a .531 hitting percentage.
Leading 13-12, Earlham scored a 9-3 run to lead 22-15.
Liv Kyrk ended the frame with one of her eight kills in the match.
The Quaker defense held the Grizzlies under .100 attacking in the third set, while hitting just two errors in a 25-13 win. Leading 7-3, Earlham scored a 5-0 run. Earlham also had a 7-3 run to end the match.
The Quakers have a week off before hosting Berea College in Druley Performance Gym next Saturday at 1 pm. At 4-3, the Quakers are in fifth place in a tight battle in the middle of the standings. Just two wins separate third place from seventh place in the current order.
