Five Quakers score double digits at Oglethorpe

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Earlham College men's basketball team began the holiday break with a 93-85 loss at Oglethorpe University on Friday afternoon. 

Ken Walker scored 20+ points for the sixth time this season with 29 points, six assists, two steals and five rebounds. Landen Hale led the Quakers in rebounds with eight, and scored 14 points. Connor Smith shot 50% on 3-pointers to score 15 points.Tavian Tatum collected five boards and scored 11 points. 

As a team, the Quakers shot 47% on field goals, and went 11-for-27 (40%) on 3-pointers.The lead changed eight times, including four times in the second half. 

Trailing by two at halftime, The Quakers began the second frame with a 15-4 run, which included four 3-pointers by Walker and Smith. Oglethorpe scored on three straight possessions to tie the game at 58 at the 12:22 mark of the second half. 

From 12:22 to 9:40, the score was tied four times as the teams alternated scoring plays. Oglethorpe scored four straight points at the 8:34 mark to take the final lead of the game. The Petrels scored a 6-0 run to lead 79-71 at the 6:13 mark of the second half. 

Earlham scored a 6-0 run to cut the lead to just one point with 4:22 remaining, but the hosts responded with a 12-2 run over the next three minutes. 

The Quakers continue play in Georgia tomorrow at Berry College starting at 2 pm.
