LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Earlham College men's basketball team fell to Transylvania University 87-70 on Wednesday evening to begin conference play.
Ken Walker led the Quakers with 23 points and five assists, Walker also collected two steals.
Tavian Tatum brought down a team-high 14 rebounds and scored nine points with two steals.
The Pioneers jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the opening two minutes. The Quakers used an 8-0 run to trail 15-14 at the 12:30 mark of the first half with two 3-pointers by
Aidan Temple. Walker tied the game at 32 with 4:55 left in the half on a 3-pointer.
Milan Kennedy hit a three with 32 seconds remaining to send the teams to halftime with a 44-40 lead for Transylvania.
The Pioneers scored an 8-0 run to lead 72-55 at the 6:36 mark of the second half. Despite going 7-for-17 on 3-pointers in the first half, which accounted for nearly half of Earlham's field goals, the Quakers were 0-for-10 in the second half from distance.
The Quakers will continue play on Saturday at Manchester University for HCAC competition. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 pm.
