RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's basketball team dropped its conference opener 75-53 against Transylvania University on Wednesday evening in Druley Performance Gym.
Berkley Sheton scored a double-double with a team high 18 points and 10 rebounds. Shelton also led the Quakers in assists with four.
Amari Bradford scored eight points with four rebounds and one block.
After Transylvania took a 12-6 lead at the 4:39 mark of the first quarter, Earlham scored six straight and tied the game at 12 on a buzzer-beater by
Amari Wright as time expired. The Pioneers led 26-18 midway through the second quarter, but Earlham responded with an 8-1 run, and trailed 29-26 at the half.
The Pioneers came out shooting 41% on field goals in the second half, and took a 10-point lead after four minutes of play in the third frame. The visitors outscored Earlham 46-27 in the second half of play.
The Quakers continue HCAC action on Saturday at Manchester University. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 pm.
