RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's basketball battled Anderson to an 81-77 loss on Wednesday evening in Druley Performance Gym.
Willow Runyon led the Quakers with 20 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals.
Jay Bright scored 15 points, and brought in five rebounds with four assists, three steals and two blocks.
Abby Parsons and
Berkley Shelton both brought in six rebounds with double-digit points.
Tatum McFarland led the team in rebounds with eight.
The Quakers had one of their most efficient offensive nights with a 40% field goal percentage, and a 38% mark on 3-pointers. As a team, the Quakers went 9-for-10 on free throws. The Quakers scored 22 points from close range, and had 18 points off turnovers. Earlham trailed in the turnover battle 18-13.
Earlham trailed 8-0 in the opening four minutes of play, but the Quakers rallied for a 9-0 run to take the lead at the 4:08 mark. The Quakers took the lead again in the second quarter off of a 5-0 run at the 8:07 mark of the second quarter.
Trailing 32-27 with 4:21 remaining in the half, Earlham scored a 13-0 run to lead 40-32. The Ravens retook the lead on a 3-pointer at the 6:39 mark of the third quarter. Anderson then scored a 10-0 run later in the frame to increase its lead to 65-57.
Earlham scored a 9-0 run to take the lead 77-76 with 3:59 left in regulation, but the Quakers were outscored 5-0 in the final minutes.
Earlham will continue play on Saturday against Franklin College in Druley Performance Gym. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 pm.
