ASHLAND, Wis. – The Earlham College men's lacrosse team dropped an offensive battle at Northland College 10-9 to begin the team spring break trip on Saturday afternoon.
The Quakers fell to 3-2 while the Jacks improved to 2-4.
Ryan Polack led the offense with three goals on the day from eight shots.
Robert Gift scored twice and dished out an assist.
Freshman Donnie Lunardini Jr scored his first collegiate goal, along with an assist on offense. On defense, Lunardini caused eight turnovers and picked up 10 ground balls.
Braden Greeno collected eight saves in goal.
Earlham outshot the Jacks 36-26, and Earlham was 12-for-18 on clears.
After two goals in the opening five minutes, Northland carried momentum to a 3-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Quakers then locked in with five goals scored and none allowed in the second quarter.
Trailing 6-3 at halftime, Northland scored four goals in the third quarter to retake the lead. Polack tied the game at seven early in the fourth quarter, but the hosts responded with two straight goals. Gift then scored twice within two minutes of game time, but Northland scored the game-winner with four minutes remaining in the game.
Earlham will continue its trip on Monday at Beloit College at 4 pm central time.
