RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College softball team dropped a midweek doubleheader with Denison University on Wednesday afternoon in Ellie Bewley Stadium.

GAME ONE: EARLHAM 0 DENISON 1

Tatum Rickert started game one, and threw a complete 7 innings with 3 hits, 1 earned run and 11 strikeouts.

Offensively, Ashley Lewis scored the only hit of the game for Earlham with a single to third base in the first inning.

Bo Shelton reached base twice with one hit and a walk. Tiffany Sowder went 1-3 as the catcher in game two.

Denison plated a run in the first inning, but the Quakers quickly responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the inning after Cooksey doubled to left field to bring home Shelton.

After Denison would score a run in the fifth and sixth, the Quakers would go on to score their final run in the bottom half of the sixth after Emerie Stump flew out to center field, and Bo Shelton would come around to score on a throwing error by the Denison second baseman. Denison would plate one more run in the top of the seventh.

Earlham will return to conference play on Saturday as they host Manchester University at Ellie Bewley Stadium for a doubleheader starting at 1:00 pm.
