Three Quakers post career-highs in win over Bluffton

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's basketball team prevailed over Bluffton University in a 78-69 matchup for an HCAC win on Wednesday evening. 

Ken Walker led the Quakers, scoring 21 points with three rebounds, with four assists, two blocks and two steals. Donovan Pruitt scored a career-high 19 points, clearing 10 for just the second time in his young career, and dished out four assists with three boards. Tommy Reddick posted a career-high 10 rebounds to lead the Quakers. Landen Hale scored 18 points with five rebounds, and a team-high three steals. 

As a team, the Quaker offense shot 45% from the floor, including a 38% mark on 3-pointers. Earlham missed just one free throw all game. Earlham also posted its second-highest point total of the season. The Quaker defense held the Beavers to 38% shooting, and the lowest opponent point total of the season so far. 

Trailing 21-16 with 8:20 remaining in the first half, Earlham went on a 15-4 run aided by a trio of 3-pointers. Hale put the Quakers up 33-27 with just over 90 seconds remaining in the half. Bluffton hit a three with 57 seconds remaining to bring the halftime score to 33-30. 

Earlham began the second half with seven straight points to take a 40-30 lead. The Beavers responded and brought the score to 42-40 with 14 minutes remaining in regulation. Earlham then went 4-for-4 on 3-pointers to score a 12-3 run over two minutes of game time. In the second half, Earlham went 7-for-14 on 3-pointers, accounting for nearly half of all field goals in the frame. 

After taking a 70-59 lead with three minutes remaining, the Quakers shot 6-for-6 on free throws, and held the Beavers to just three scoring possessions. 

The Quakers travel to Anderson University on Saturday afternoon for a 1 pm matchup at the conference-leading Ravens.
