RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's basketball team dropped a heartbreaker to Hanover College 75-70 on Saturday afternoon in Druley Performance Gym.
Ken Walker led the Quakers with 22 points and eight rebounds, both team highs, shooting 4-for-10 from 3-point range.
Travis Makabu and
Landen Hale both scored 13 points, with five combined rebounds.
Trailing 11-7 in the first half, Earlham went on an 11-3 run led by
Connor Smith, who went 3-for-3 from 3-point range in the run. Hanover retook the lead 19-18 at the 6:44 mark of the first half, but the Quakers scored a 9-5 run to end the half.
A 3-pointer by Walker gave the Quakers a 46-45 lead five minutes into the second half. Trailing 49-37, Hanover scored a 17-2 run and took the lead with 9:31 left in the second half. After taking a 71-70 lead with one minute left, Hanover went 4-for-4 on free throws to end the game.
The Quakers host Anderson University on Wednesday evening in Druley Performance Gym. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 pm.
