Volleyball eliminated from HCAC Tournament

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College volleyball team was eliminated from the HCAC Tournament after a five-set loss to Hanover College on Saturday afternoon. 

Addison Piatt scored a team-high 22 kills with a .221 attack percentage, two blocks and 23 digs. Caylee Brandes tallied six blocks with 15 kills. Ava Walters dished out 25 assists, while Sydney Bleyle tallied 24. Charish Minor swung .235 with seven kills and six blocks. Madison Bizjak led the back line with 38 digs. 

Hanover scored an 8-2 run to take a 12-9 lead over the tournament hosts in set one, and won the set after going on a 7-0 run. 

The Quakers used a 10-2 run to lead 13-8 in set two, and held off a 5-1 charge by the Panthers to win the frame 25-21. 

Earlham led set three 7-2, but a 7-0 run by the Panthers gave them an 11-10 lead in the set. After going to extra points, Hanover took a 29-27 win from a pair of attack errors. 

Tied at 13 in set four, Hanover scored a 5-0 run. Facing elimination, Earlham pulled off a 7-2 run to tie the set, and scored three straight points to win 26-24. 

Earlham led 5-1 in the fifth set before a 7-2 run put Hanover on top. The Quakers led 12-9, but Hanover rallied for a 7-2 run to take the match win.

Earlham finishes its season with a 21-9 record. Its 8-1 mark in conference play was the best since the 2021 squad also hosted the HCAC Tournament in Druley Performance Gym.
