RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's basketball team downed Wilmington College 78-69 in its season opener at IU East on Saturday.
Amari Wright led the Quakers with 21 points, three rebounds, seven assists and three steals.
Sarah Riley scored 16 points after going 4-for-5 from 3-point range in her debut game for the Quakers.
Berkley Shelton pulled in a team-high six rebounds with eight points.
Tied at 10 with three minutes left in the first quarter, Earlham scored a 9-2 run to lead 19-12. Wilmington outscored Earlham 38-30 in the second and third quarters, but Earlham put up 28 points in the fourth quarter alone for the win.
Earlham hosts the Melissa Johnson/HOPE Classic next weekend in Druley Performance Gym. The Quakers are set to battle Principia College and Albion College next weekend.
