RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's basketball team came up short in a comeback effort against the College of Wooster on Sunday afternoon in Druley Performance Gym.
Berkley Shelton scored her third straight double-double with a team-high 24 points and 11 rebounds. The junior also tallied two steals and one assist.
Amari Wright scored 17 points with eight rebounds and a career-high eight assists.
Trailing 61-44 with just under 90 seconds remaining in the third quarter, Earlham went on a 16-3 run stretching to the midway point of the fourth quarter. Shelton and
Liz Godfrey both tallied six points in the run to bring the Quakers within four points of the Scots.
After the run, Wooster scored seven points on three straight possessions to lead 71-60 with two minutes remaining in the game. The Quakers responded by forcing two scoreless possessions by the Scots, while scoring a 6-0 run.
Leading by five, Wooster hit 3-of-4 free throws in the final 20 seconds on regulation.
The Quakers play again on December 30th at St. Mary's University. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 pm.
