RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's basketball team continued conference play with an 83-72 loss to Manchester University on Saturday afternoon.
Noah Gathings had a standout day for the Quakers, scoring 25 points with a 10-for-16 mark on field goals. Gathings also dished out two assists.
Bud Davis scored 10 points with three rebounds and two assists.
Patrick Hardimon and
Connor Smith led the team in rebounds with seven each.
Manchester jumped out to a 10-0 lead after three minutes of play, but the Quakers scored eight straight points to trail by just two after five minutes. Gathings hit a jumper to give Earlham 22-21 lead with 8:35 remaining in the half, but Manchester countered with a 17-4 run to lead 38-26.
Earlham scored a 14-8 run with four minutes remaining in the second half to trail 67-74. Gathings hit a 3-pointer with 1:17 remaining to trail 79-72, but the Spartans went 4-for-4 on free throws in the final minute.
Earlham travels to Mount St. Joseph University on Saturday for a 3 pm matchup in a doubleheader.
