RICHMOND, Ind. – Led by 31 points from
Ken Walker, the Earlham College men's basketball team pulled off an 89-69 win over Berea College on Wednesday evening in Druley Performance Gym.
Walker scored 31 points, shooting 10-of-14 on field goals, with four rebounds, three assists and two blocks. The sophomore broke the 1,000 point barrier with a 3-pointer at the 14:13 mark of the second half. Walker is the 28th player in program history to score at least 1,000 points, and he currently has the least number of games played of all 1,000-point scorers.
Donovan Pruitt scored 12 points with five rebounds and six assists, while
Tavian Tatum led the squad in rebounding with eight.
Landen Hale scored 11 points with seven boards.
After trailing 15-10 in the opening minutes, Earlham kicked off an 11-3 run to take the lead at the 8:23 mark. A Mountaineer timeout stopped the run, and gave the visitors a chance for an 11-2 run over the next four minutes. Berea scored four straight points to end the half with a 39-33 lead.
The Quakers took the lead on a
Connor Smith 3-pointer with 15:30 remaining in the second half, and led by 11 points with 10 minutes to go. Earlham outscored the Mountaineers 26-8 in the run.
The Quakers will be back in action on Saturday with a 3 pm matchup against Manchester in Druley Performance Gym.
