RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's basketball team took an HCAC win over Bluffton University with a 70-66 final score on Wednesday evening in Druley Performance Gym.\
Jay Bright led the offense with 18 points, three steals and three rebounds.
Amari Wright scored 12, with three assists and two steals.
Berkley Shelton led the Quakers under the net with 12 rebounds, two blocks and nine points.
Earlham started the night off by jumping out to a 14-2 lead in the opening five minutes. The Quakers scored a 10-0 run to take a 26-9 lead with 28 seconds remaining in the frame. Trailing 39-25 with just over four minutes remaining in the second quarter, Bluffton went on a 14-0 run to tie the game in the final seconds of the half.
The lead swapped three times in the third quarter, with Bluffton hitting a jumper to take a 59-57 lead with 48 seconds remaining on the clock. After trailing 64-59, Earlham began its final attack. The Quakers went on a 9-0 run, which included a jumper by
Bailey Gibson to take the lead with 1:10 remaining in the game. Bright then took a steal, and converted for a 3-pointer to give EC a four-point lead with 20 seconds remaining. The Quaker defense allowed just one made layup by the Beavers in the final seconds.
Earlham continues play on Saturday at Mount St. Joseph University. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 pm in Cincinnati.
