RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College baseball team defeated Ohio Wesleyan University with a 7-6 win in Sadler Stadium on Wednesday evening.
Braeden Lewis came in to pitch in the first inning, and allowed just one hit over five innings with one strikeout and no earned runs.
Jack Briney,
Vincent Witte,
Casey Blevins and
Garret Odey all threw a scoreless inning, allowing just one hit over the final four frames.
Offensively,
Reece Zonts went 3-4 with three doubles, three RBI and two runs scored.
Noah Rosato tallied two hits, both doubles, and brought in two RBI.
Noah Wagster went 2-5 with a run scored, one steal, and a walk-off RBI in the ninth inning.
Ohio Wesleyan batted around the order in the top of the first inning, plating all six of their runs on four hits, an error, and three walks.
Earlham put up its first runs of the night in the bottom of the fourth inning. Zonts led off the frame with a double to left field, and advanced on a Wagster single.
Mitchell Roether and Rosato both pulled sacrifice flies to bring the runs home.
In the bottom of the eighth,
Jonathan Jimenez hit a leadoff double into the gap in left-center, and came home on an RBI double by Zonts the opposite way. Rosato then hit a two-out double into the right field gap for an RBI to bring the Bishop lead down to 6-4.
Odey threw a clean inning in the top of the ninth, and the Quakers put two runners on base to begin the bottom of the inning. With a one-out walk, Jimenez loaded the bases for a two-run double by Zonts to tie the game at 6-6. Wagster then hit a single to center field to bring Jimenez home for the walk off win.
Earlham gets back to conference action this weekend, hosting Franklin College for a three-game series starting on Friday at 6 pm.
