LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Earlham College softball team dropped its opening-round game to Rose-Hulman in the HCAC Tournament with a final score of 6-2 on Thursday.
Tatum Rickett got the start in the circle, and threw two innings with four hits and two earned runs.
Morgan Cooksey threw the final five frames with seven hits, no earned runs and five strikeouts.
Shelby Hill put the Quakers up with a solo home run in the bottom of the second inning. The Engineers then scored two runs in the top of the third, and two unearned runs in the top of the fourth.
Emmerie Stump brought in a run with an RBI single in the bottom of the fourth after a leadoff hit by
Malaya Tanglao.
Rose-Hulman added two runs in the top of the seventh to close out the game.
The Quakers are slated to take on Manchester University tomorrow at 10 am. A win keeps the Quakers alive in the tournament, and sets a matchup with the winners of game six at 3 pm tomorrow.
