Men's soccer 2025 season preview

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College men's soccer team is set to begin its 2025 season on August 29th against Beloit College in Matlack-Messer Stadium. 

THE SCHEDULE

Earlham opens its season against Beloit, and turns around to host Muskingum College on August 30th at 3 pm. The Quakers host Kuyper College on September 3rd before a pair of road games at Heidelberg and Spalding. IU East makes the short trip to Matlack-Messer on September 13th, and Wilmington comes to town for the Quaker Bowl Rivalry Game on September 23rd. 

HCAC action begins on September 27th with Manchester University at home.Earlham hosts Transylvania University on October 11th as part of Homecoming on campus, and the men's program will play at 3:30 pm following the women's contest. The regular season ends with a pair of home games, against Hanover and Berea, finishing on October 29th. 

THE COACHES

Aaron Gustine will lead the Quakers in his seventh season this year, once again joined by Jack Amorosano and Ethan Getman.

THE PLAYERS

Mason Paul and Grant Courtad both earned third team All-HCAC honors last season for the Quakers. Paul started in 16 games with over 1,400 minutes played as a freshman. He scored two goals with two assists for six points on the season. Courtad started 14 games and scored two goals with three assists, he was also credited with the game-winner in a conference win over Anderson University. 

The Quakers also had four players named as Athletes to Watch by the HCAC. Orin Gentner started all 17 games in his junior season, with one goal on five shots from the defense. Markku Laukkanen and Rhoi Phulusa led the Quakers in points as freshmen with 11 each. Laukkanen scored four goals with a team-high three assists, and Phulusa led the offense with five goals, and gave out one assist. Oscar Gomez saw action in six games with one start as a freshman last season, tallying one goal on two shots. 

HCAC OUTLOOK

The Quakers were picked to finish in seventh place in the HCAC preseason coaches poll with 31 votes. Last season, Earlham finished with a 3-5-1 conference record, the program's best mark since 2019.
