RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College women's soccer team hosts Alma College for its season-opener on August 29th at 2:30 pm.
THE SCHEDULE
After Alma on Friday, the Quakers play three straight road games, stopping at Wooster, Olivet and Albion. Earlham hosts Wilmington for the Quaker Bowl Rivalry Game on September 10th. IU East plays in a men's/women's doubleheader at Matlack-Messer on September 13th before the final two non-conference games of the season at Muskingum and St. Marys.
HCAC action begins at home against Manchester on September 27th at 1 pm. The Quakers then take on Anderson on the road, and host Bluffton before Homecoming on October 11th against Transylvania. The Quakers then have a pair of road trips to Rose-Hulman and Mount St. Joseph, followed by a two-game homestand against Franklin and Hanover. The regular season ends on October 28th at Berea College.
THE COACHES
Lydia Harvey returns for her fifth season leading the Quakers, while Padgett Gustafson is set to begin his fourth season with the women's soccer program.
THE PLAYERS
Mallory Smith returns for her senior season after earning second team All-HCAC honors last year. Smith scored four goals, and dished out three assists. She took 42 shots throughout the season, and started all 15 games on the offense.
Kiley Bohart was named to the third team All-HCAC last year after leading the Quaker back line to a six-shutout season.
Mariana Mendez was named as an Athlete to Watch by the HCAC, last year as a freshman, Mendez garnered 12 starts, and scored three goals on 11 shots.
HCAC OUTLOOK
The Quakers were picked seventh in this year's HCAC preseason poll with 37 votes. Earlham will be chasing Anderson (43 votes) and Franklin (47 votes) for the final spot in the HCAC postseason.
