RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College baseball team opened its 2026 season with a split against the University of Olivet on Saturday in Sadler Stadium.
GAME ONE: EARLHAM 0 OLIVET 2
Kyle Jeffries pitched seven innings in game one, allowing one earned run on four hits with five strikeouts.
Christopher Snider tallied the final two innings with one hit and one strikeout.
Tucker Williams recorded two of the three Quaker hits in the game.
After the Comets hit a leadoff single in the top of the first inning, the runner came around to score on a passed ball for a 1-0 lead. Olivet added its second run after a leadoff triple in the top of the fourth inning.
GAME TWO: EARLHAM 9 OLIVET 3
Cayman Huntsman started game two on the mound, and allowed two runs on six hits with six strikeouts over five innings.
Hayden Scalf threw two innings with four strikeouts and one hit.
Austin Dick tallied three hits with a double and a triple, while scoring two runs with two RBI.
Mitchell Roether went 2-for-4 with one run scored and one RBI.
With runners on second and third with one out, Dick put the Quakers ahead in the bottom of the second inning with a two-run double.
Evan Duncan then brought Dick home with an outfield single.
Olivet scored two runs in the top of the fifth, and tied the game in the top of the seventh.
In the bottom of the seventh,
Tucker Williams hit a two-out, two-run single that got past the Comet center fielder. Earlham then tacked on four runs on five hits in the bottom of the eighth inning, including back-to-back triples by
Ian Bullis and
Sean Jeffries.
The Quakers host Olivet in Sadler Stadium tomorrow for another doubleheader at 12 pm.
