RICHMOND, Ind. – The Earlham College baseball team dropped a non-conference matchup with DePauw 7-2 on Tuesday evening in Sadler Stadium.
Axel Kappes started the game on the mound, and threw two innings with one run and two strikeouts.
Jack Briney scored two strikeouts in the third inning, and
Nick Sullivan held the Tigers off base in the fourth inning.
Eric Echeverria went 2-4 with a double and a run scored.
Evan Duncan reached base three times and swiped three bags.
DePauw took the lead on a sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning after a leadoff single. The Tigers then added two runs on two hits in the top of the fifth inning.
Jake Cane pinch hit in the bottom of the sixth inning, and scored his first hit of the season with an RBI-double to the left field fence.
Trailing 4-1 after a DePauw run in the top of the seventh,
Mitchell Roether hit an RBI-single in the bottom of the frame.
DePauw scored three insurance runs on four hits in the top of the ninth inning.
Earlham is slated to continue conference play this weekend with a three-game series at Bluffton University.
