RICHMOND, Ind. — Earlham men's tennis earned a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Hanover in the conference quarterfinals on Wednesday, punching its ticket to the program's first semifinal appearance since 2019.
The 4th seeded Quakers grabbed early momentum by securing the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3.
Ivan Wularu and
Dev Agrawal delivered a 6-4 victory at No. 2, while
Dreek Saha and
Juan Diego Pachon Hernandez followed with a 6-3 win at No. 3 to give Earlham the 1-0 lead.
Juan Diego Pachon Hernandez picked up yet another straight set victory this time only dropping 3 games the entire match (6-2,6-1).
Dev Agrawal added another point with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 6.
It came down to No. 2 singles and
Christos Xirokostas delivered avenging his loss earlier in the season at No. 2 singles, picking up a 6-4, 6-4 to send the Quakers into the semifinals.
Ivan Wularu came up short at no. 1 falling 6-7 (5-7) 4-6.
Dreek Saha also battled but ultimately fell in 3 sets 6-1 2-6 4-6 at No. 3.
