DELAWARE, Ohio – The Earlham College volleyball team battled Ohio Wesleyan to a five-set loss on Wednesday evening.
Freshman
Ciara Logan led the Quaker attack with 16 kills and a .286 hitting percentage.
Caylee Brandes scored 11 kills with three blocks.
Emma Ledford dished out a team-high 20 assists while
Sadie Mae Calma tallied 15 with two blocks and six kills.
Madison Bizjak led the back row with 23 digs.
As a team, the Quakers scored 44 kills and nine blocks.
The Quakers got ahead early, picking up set wins of 25-23 and 25-19 in the opening two frames. After the Bishops took a 25-23 win in set three, the hosts then pulled a 25-14 set to force a fifth and final frame.
Earlham took a 5-3 lead early in the final set, but Ohio Wesleyan strung a 5-2 run to lead 8-7, and then scored seven straight points to take the match.
Earlham will travel to the Hope Tournament this weekend for the final neutral-site games of the season. The Quakers open with Carthage and Hope on Friday evening, and take on Bethel and Ohio Northern on Saturday in Holland, Michigan.
