NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Earlham College women's soccer team opened HCAC action with a 1-1 draw at Manchester University on Saturday afternoon.
Mallory Long netted her first career goal in the 41st minute of play to put the Quakers up 1-0 in conference action. The Quakers held the lead through the halftime break, but Manchester scored an equalizer in the 55th minute.
Earlham outshot the Spartans 19-5, and placed 10 shots on target.
Mariana Mendez and
Julie Gatto led the team with three total shots, and two on frame.
In goal,
Kaya Ito collected three saves.
Coming into the game, Earlham had been on a nine-game winning streak against the Spartans dating back to October of 2016. The Quakers are 12-4-2 against Manchester since 2010.
Earlham will continue HCAC action next weekend as Anderson comes to Matlack-Messer Stadium for a soccer doubleheader. The women's game will kick off at 1 pm.
