Shane Cleveland is heading into his third season as an assistant coach for Earlham men's basketball in 2021-22.
In 2019-20, Cleveland was a part of arguably the program's best campaign in Earlham's 10-year history as members of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, helping guide the team to a 10-15 overall record and 6-12 mark in the HCAC. Senior Chainey Zolman was tabbed for Second Team All-HCAC honors, becoming the first Earlham men's basketball player to get the nod as either a First or Second Team honoree. Jamel Barnes Jr. was named to the Honorable Mention squad, giving the Quakers a pair of all-conference selections for just the second time since joining the conference.
Cleveland is no stranger to the system run by Head Men's Basketball Coach Joe Scheuers, as the pair are set to head into their fourth consecutive season working together.

Prior to joining the Quakers in 2019, Cleveland was an assistant coach on the Thomas College men's basketball staff when Scheuers was the head coach for the 2018-19 season. While at Thomas, Cleveland helped bring the team to the conference championship with a regular-season record of 14-13 and 9-5 in the conference. The championship appearance marked the third time Thomas had reached the championship in school history. Thomas also beat longtime rival Husson College for the first time in over four year, ending the game with an ESPN Top 10 play.
Cleveland also has a background in officiating competitive basketball as well as player development. During 2018 he worked as an intern and coach for Baseline Hoops in New Jersey, working for former Division I player Marcus Bullock, a current professional basketball trainer. Cleveland got to work alongside Bullock, developing and coaching players of all skill-levels.Â
