Elizabeth Rakes, aka “Beth”, is the only senior on the team and has been an integral part of the growth of this program in the past three years. Beth has been a mainstay in the Quakers back line for the past three seasons and her favorite moment from the previous season was the 2-2 thrilling come back against Anderson to end the year. Her consistency has helped the team achieve back-to-back years of improved results. Rakes grew up in Centerville, Ohio and is currently a biology major and studying to become a veterinarian. Her dad got her into soccer, but her friends have kept her in it. “I made a lot of friends through it, and they kept me motivated. I also just really enjoyed the competitiveness of it.” Beth continues to bring that competitive drive to the team and is always a supportive teammate that masterfully welcomes all new members to the team. Off the field Beth enjoys spinning and hanging out with friends. She also works at a local veterinary clinic. No need to worry if a furry friend is in distress. Beth has you covered.
Why Earlham?
“The people! There were a lot of really cool people that I met on my visit here and this was the first visit I took that felt different than every other school I went to. The team felt a lot more like a family than just being teammates, everyone was super friendly and accepting.”
