Makayla, aka “Mak,” is the Quakers’ starting goalkeeper with 10 career clean sheets and bosting an 80% save rate last season. As team captain Hurey’s communication, get things done attitude, and shot stopping abilities has been essential to the growth of the program. A mathematics major and psychology minor Mak grew up in Sidney, Ohio. Wanting to be like her brother, Hurey started playing soccer young and grew up watching Hope Solo. “My brother and parents shaped me the most, I strive to be caring, loving, and hardworking.” Mak is currently on the brink of breaking Earlham’s clean sheet record and could break it within her senior season. Off the field Hurey is a kind and dedicated teammate willing to lend a helping hand and give her all. However, opposing forwards be warned, Mak owns her box and is not afraid to put her body on the line! For her final season Mak’s goals are to break the schools career HCAC clean sheet record, make tournament play, and set the team up for years of future success.
Why Earlham?
“The small loving community feel that Earlham brings, and you always feel like you have a family no matter what class you are in or where you are at.”
