2023 Women's Soccer Roster
Biography
Sofia, aka “Sof,” is joining the Quakers from Beloit, Wisconsin and is planning on studying exercise science and minoring in music. She is a fan of the US national team but struggles to pick a favorite player. “Picking my favorite player is like picking a favorite child.” Sof started playing soccer because of her sister. She would watch her play in high school and thought it looked like a lot of fun. The challenges of life and the adaptations from them have shaped her the most and she is looking forward to more at Earlham. “I am looking forward to all of it, new experiences, new challenges, all the new things. I am hoping to become the person that younger me would be proud of.” Sof takes pride in her growth mindset and tries to embody the quote, “Don’t let success go to your head and don’t let failure go to your heart.” She also writes quotes and phrases on her cleats for motivation. Sof is a player that gives 100% on the field and a great student of the game constantly looking for ways to grow. ECWS is excited to have Sof joining them and are eager to see what she can bring to the program within her first year!
Why Earlham?
“I felt accepted from my first interaction on campus … the interaction I had with the coaches, we talked for like 2 hours about just things. I felt wanted, accepted, and like a person instead of another statistic on campus. When you go to colleges, they will look at you and be like, ‘oh another possible student that can come and give us money and play for us.’ That wasn’t how it was visiting Earlham. It was more, ‘How are you? What do you want to do in life?’”
