ANDERSON, Ind. — The
Earlham College women's basketball team had two players in double figures on Saturday as the Quakers fell 70-51 at
Anderson University.
Starr Gary led the Quakers with 12 points, while
Charvonne Long tossed in 10 points.
Nikki Darrett added seven points, while
Michelle Miranda pulled down a team-high five rebounds.
Both teams had small leads in the first half with the Quakers up by three points twice with the last coming at the 14:37 mark when they had a 13-10 advantage.
After the Ravens (4-5) scored the next five points to grab the lead, Long tied the non-conference contest at 15-15 with a basket with 11:58 remaining. Moments later the game was tied again at 17-17.
Anderson then scored six consecutive points and the Ravens went on to a 31-25 lead at intermission.
In the second half,
Whitney Sparkman hit a pair of free throws to cut Earlham's deficit to 33-32 with 17:19 left in the contest.
From that point,
Anderson was able to build a double-digit advantage to put the game away.
Earllham (1-6) is back in action on Monday against St. Mary-of-the-Woods College. The contest on
Schuckman Court gets underway at 7 p.m.
