RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College women's tennis team started off Wednesday afternoon by sweeping the doubles contest as the Quakers posted a 7-2 win over Manchester College.
Alex Softness and
Nora Mineva jumped out to a big lead and were able to hold on to beat April Erxleben and Emily Vail 8-6 at No. 1.
Rebecca Ogle and
Rachel Hawkins trailed early in their contest at No. 2 doubles, but the duo was able to comeback to win 9-7 over Kessie Karg and Alyssa Dibley.
At No. 3 doubles,
Bailey Hall and
Julia Berner-Tobin won 8-4 over Liz Strahammer and Hannah Gleckman.
In singles play, Ogle picked up a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Karg at No. 2. Mineva won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 3.
Softness had to comeback to win a No. 4 with a 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-5) decision over Dibley. Hall finished the day with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Gleckman at No. 6.
Earlham (2-1) has won two straight as the Quakers prepare for their next contest at home against the College of Mount St. Joseph on Monday. The non-conference match gets underway on the EC Courts at 4 p.m.
