Quakers Fall in HCAC Opener at Manchester

Box Score NO. MANCHESTER, Ind. — The Earlham College women's basketball team dropped its Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener on Wednesday 82-43 at Manchester College.

Bria Sneed (Indianapolis, IN, University) led the Quakers with nine points, while Christyan Cooksey (Evansville, IN, Bosse) tossed in seven points.

Nikki Darrett (Evansville, IN, Bosse) added six points as she led the squad with eight rebounds and three assists.

The game was tied early in the contest when Cooksey drilled a 3-pointer to make it 4-4 at the 17:28 mark of the first half.

After Manchester  (1-4, 1-0) went up 8-4, Cooksey hit another trey to make it 8-7 with 15:57 remaining in the opening stanza.

From that point, the Spartans went on a 12-2 run to build a 20-9 advantage with 12:21 left. By intermission, Manchester led 42-21 and the Quakers couldn't get any closer the rest of the way.

Earlham (0-6, 0-1) returns to action at home on Saturday against Franklin College. The HCAC affair on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center gets underway at 3 p.m.
