GAMBIER, Ohio — A run in the first half was the difference on Saturday as the
Earlham College women's basketball team dropped a 60-41 North Coast Athletic Conference decision to
Kenyon College.
Jessica Wooden gave the Quakers a 10-5 advantage with 14:18 left to play in the opening period, but the Ladies (15-8, 8-6) responded with 11 straight points to take the lead for good.
Kenyon built a 34-24 advantage by intermission. In the second half, the Ladies scored the first seven points of the period to lead 41-24 with 16:31 left in the contest.
From that point, the Quakers fought to narrow the gap and got it to 51-40 when Wooden scored with 3:49 remaining, but they couldn't get closer.
Nikki Darrett led the Quakers with 13 points and nine rebounds, while Wooden added nine points.
Charvonne Long finished with eight points and
Whitney Sparkman pulled down seven rebounds.
Earlham (3-20, 2-12) visits
Wittenberg University on Wednesday for its final road contest of the regular season. The NCAC game gets underway at 6 p.m.
