Quakers Play HCAC Foe on the Road

Box Score CINCINNATI, Ohio — The Earlham College women's basketball team had three players in double figures on Wednesday as the Quakers fell 70-63 at the College of Mount St. Joseph.

Bria Sneed (Indianapolis, IN, University) scored a career-high 19 points to lead the Quakers in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference battle. Danielle Altman (Carthage, IN, Knightstown) posted her first double-double with 16 points and a team-high 12 rebounds.

Nikki Darrett (Evansville, IN, Bosse) finished with 12 points, six rebounds and six assists. Christyan Cooksey (Evansville, IN, Bosse) and Kate Franks (Hopewell, OH, West Muskingum ) tossed in five points each.

The Quakers jumped out to an early 5-0 advantage as Cooksey scored all five points. They were able to work their way to a 15-6 lead after Sneed hit one-of-two free throws at the 11:56 mark of the first half.

The Lions (3-8, 3-2) were able to fight back and eventually take their first lead of 23-22 with 5:06 left in the opening period.

By intermission, Mount St. Joseph led 28-25.

In the second half, Sneed scored the first basket to 28-27, but Earlham couldn't get any closer as the Lions were able to hold off the Quakers.

Although the Lions widened their margin to as much as eight points, the Quakers were able to cut the deficit to two points on four occasions with the last coming when Darrett hit a pair of free throws with 8:20 left to play.

Earlham (0-12, 0-5) entertains Hanover College on Saturday. The HCAC affair gets underway at 1 p.m.
