Quakers Travel to Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio — The Earlham College women's basketball team dropped an 80-65 decision at Wittenberg University on Wednesday night.

Bria Sneed (Indianapolis, IN, University) led the Quakers with 21 points and five rebounds, while Nikki Darrett (Evansville, IN, Bosse) tossed in 17 points.

The Quakers got out to an early lead when Emily Sells (Winchester, IN, Winchester) started the game with a 3-pointer. The Tigers scored, but Charvonne Long (Edwardsville, IL, Edwardsville) followed with a basket to give the Quakers a 5-2 lead at the 18:42 mark.

The non-conference contest was eventually tied at 10-10 before the Quakers went back on top at 12-10 on a basket by Sneed at 14:31.

The Tigers (2-3) tied the game again at 12-12 and took the lead 14-12 with 13:23 to go in the opening period.

From that point, Wittenberg was able to maintain its advantage a build a 47-33 lead by intermission.

In the second half, the Quakers were able to cut the lead to 10 points twice with the last time coming at the 15:37 mark when Sneed scored to make it 51-41.
 
Earlham (1-4) returns to action on Saturday at the College of Mount St. Joseph. The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opener for both squads begins at 1 p.m.
