HANOVER, Ind. — The Earlham College women's basketball team met the top team in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference on Saturday as the Quakers fell 83-47 to Hanover College.
Desire Hough (Bethlehem, PA, Saucon Valley) led the Quakers with 10 points and five rebounds, while
Bria Sneed (Indianapolis, IN, University) also had 10 points with four assists.
The contest was tight early as the Quakers trailed 10-9 when Sneed scored at the 14:50 mark of the opening period.
Unfortunately for the Quakers, Hanover (21-1, 15-1) scored the next eight points to grab an 18-9 advantage with 12:36 left in the first half.
Earlham was able to cut the deficit to 20-15 when
Danielle Altman (Carthage, IN, Knightstown) scored with 8:37 remaining. The Quakers couldn't get any closer as the Panthers led 39-27 at intermission.
In the second half, the Quakers managed to get to a score of 40-30 after
Christyan Cooksey (Evansville, IN, Bosse) found the basket with 18:56 left in the game, but the Panthers were able to pull away and clinch the regular season HCAC title.
The Quakers (0-23, 0-16) play their final road contest of the season as they visit Transylvania University on Wednesday. The HCAC contest begins at 7:30 p.m.
