RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College women's basketball team finished the season on Saturday with a 75-58 loss to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference foe Bluffton University.
Bria Sneed (Indianapolis, IN, University) scored 24 points to lead the Quakers in the contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
Charvonne Long (Edwardsville, IL, Edwardsville) tossed in 11 points with five rebounds, while
Kate Franks (Hopewell, OH, West Muskingum ) contributed eight points and five rebounds.
Desire Hough (Bethlehem, PA, Saucon Valley) led the Quakers with seven rebounds.
Bluffton (7-17, 7-11) hit three straight 3-pointers to start the contest with a 9-0 lead. Sneed stopped the run with a basket at the 16:19 mark to make it 9-2.
Earlham was able to rally to cut the deficit to one point three times with the last coming at 8:32 of the first half when Sneed scored again to make it 16-15.
At that point, the Beavers went on a 10-0 run to build a 26-15 advantage with 5:23 left in the period. Bluffton went on to lead 36-24 at halftime.
In the second half, the Quakers scored eight straight points to begin the period to make it 36-32 with 17:25 left to play.
Princess Darnell (Greenwood, IN, Bishop Chatard) and Franks hit 3-pointers and Sneed capped the rally with a basket.
Later in the period, Long scored to bring the Quakers with within 38-35 with 16:02 remaining in the game. The Beavers followed with an 8-0 run to go on top 46-35 at the 13:48 mark.
Earlham scored the next five points as Sneed finished the run with a basket with 10:11 remaining to make it 46-40, but that was as close as the Quakers could get the rest of the way.
The Quakers end the season at 0-25 overall and 0-18 in the HCAC.
