RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College women's tennis team fell 7-2 on Tuesday as the Quakers faced Indiana University East in their home opener.

The Quakers won 9-7 at No. 2 doubles as Olivia Engle (Richmond, IN, Richmond) and Bailey Hall (Muncie, IN, Central) teamed up to defeat Cheltsi Hinners and Paige Froman 8-6. The duo is now 2-0 on the season.

In singles, Alex Softness (Atlanta, GA, Paideia School) won 6-3, 6-2 over Emily Underwood at No. 2.

Earlham (0-2, 0-1 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) entertains Defiance College on Wednesday. The HCAC match gets underway on the EC Courts at 4:30 p.m.
