RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College women's tennis team had its two-match winning streak snapped on Saturday as Manchester College defeated the Quakers 7-2.
Due to poor weather, the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference match with the Spartans (3-3, 2-1) was played on the Trueblood Courts in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
Alex Softness (Atlanta, GA, Paideia School) led the Quakers with a pair of victories.
Softness beat April Erxleben 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1 singles.
In doubles, Softness and
Jessica Childs (Rehoboth, MA, Dighton-Rehoboth) defeated Erxleben and Kara Gilley 9-7 at No. 1.
The Quakers (2-3, 2-2) return to the courts on Wednesday at Transylvania University. The HCAC contest is scheduled for 4 p.m.
