RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College women's basketball team faced Hanover College on Saturday as the Quakers fell 89-69 to the Panthers
Nikki Darrett (Evansville, IN, Bosse) led the Quakers with 22 points in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
Brittany Combs (Columbus, OH, Bishop Hartley) tossed in 11 points, while
Charvonne Long (Edwardsville, IL, Edwardsville) finished with eight points and a team-high six rebounds.
Bria Sneed (Indianapolis, IN, University) added six points with
Emily Sells (Winchester, IN, Winchester) contributing five points and seven assists.
The Quakers grabbed an early lead when Sneed scored at 17:25 to make it 6-3.
Hanover (11-3, 7-1) rallied to take a 9-6 lead before Darrett tied the contest at 9-9 with a 3-pointer at 16:21 of the opening period.
The Panthers scored the next eight points to build a 17-9 advantage with 13:36 on the clock.
Later in the period, Darrett closed the gap for the Quakers as she scored to make it 31-27 at 5:16.
From that point, Hanover ended the first half with a 48-33 lead.
Hanover was able to maintain its margin in the second half to post the victory.
Earlham (3-12, 1-7) entertains Defiance College on Wednesday. The HCAC contest on Schuckman Court begins 7:30 p.m.
