EC Travels to Bluffton

Box Score BLUFFTON, Ohio — The Earlham College women's basketball team had three players score in double figures Wednesday night as the Quakers fell 69-61 at Bluffton University.

Charvonne Long (Edwardsville, IL, Edwardsville) led the Quakers with 16 points and nine rebounds in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference affair.

Nikki Darrett (Evansville, IN, Bosse) added 12 points and eight rebounds, while Bria Sneed (Indianapolis, IN, University) tossed in 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds with a team-high six assists.

With her dozen points, Darrett became the 10th women in Earlham history to reach the 1,000-point mark in her career. She now has 1,003.

The Quakers trailed early in the contest 11-2 and later 23-8 with 7:46 left in the opening period before they responded.

Down 30-15 with 4:31 remaining in the first half, Earlham finished the period with a 13-2 run to trail 32-28 by intermission.

In the second half, the Quakers got behind by as much as 13 points twice with the last coming at the 9:34 mark with the score 50-37.

Earlham was able to answer the with a rally that closed the gap to five points at 66-61 with just 14 seconds remaining in the contest.

The Beavers (7-11, 5-6) made 3-of-4 free throws at the end of the game to pick up the win.

Earlham (3-15, 1-10) entertains Anderson University on Saturday. The HCAC contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center gets underway at 1 p.m.
