RICHMOND, Ind. — The Earlham College women's basketball team had four players reach double digits on Saturday as the Quakers dropped an 81-69 decision to Anderson University.
Bria Sneed (Indianapolis, IN, University) led the Quakers with 18 points and four assists in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
Emily Sells (Winchester, IN, Winchester) added 11 points, while
Charvonne Long (Edwardsville, IL, Edwardsville) and
Karmell Brown (Columbus, OH, Columbus School for Girls) tossed in 10 points each. Brown led the Quakers with five rebounds and Long finished with a team-high five steals.
The Quakers got off to a good start as they built a 13-4 advantage when Sneed drilled a 3-pointer with 14:55 left in the opening period.
Anderson (7-12, 4-8) rallied to close the gap to 13-12 at the 12:05 mark.
The game was eventually tied at 17-17 at 9:50 before the Quakers went back on top.
Princess Darnell (Greenwood, IN, Bishop Chatard) scored to make it 22-17 with 4:32 remaining in the first half.
The Ravens were able to tie the contest two more times before taking a 36-33 lead by intermission.
In the second half, Darrett hit a 3-pointer to knot the contest again at 38-38 with 18:05 left to play.
From that point, the Ravens went on a 15-5 run to take a 53-43 lead at 13:43 and they were able to keep their distance from the Quakers to hold on for the victory.
Earlham (3-16, 1-11) entertains Transylvania University on Wednesday. The HCAC affair gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
