TIFFIN, Ohio — The Earlham College women's basketball team continued its stretch of road contests on Tuesday as the Quakers fell 70-54 at Heidelberg University.
This was third game away from home for the Quakers in a run of five to begin the season.
Bria Sneed (Indianapolis, IN, University) was the top performer for the Quakers with 19 points, seven rebounds, five steals and two assists against Heidelberg (3-0).
Raven Bryant-Williams (Columbus, OH, Northland) tossed in eight points and grabbed six rebounds, while
Kasin Spay (Muncie, IN, Delta) finished with seven points.
Karmell Brown (Columbus, OH, Columbus School for Girls) had seven rebounds and
Emily Sells (Winchester, IN, Winchester) pulled down six rebounds.
Earlham had a brief lead early when Spay hit a 3-pointer to give the Quakers a 3-2 advantage in the opening minute.
Heidelberg then scored nine straight to build an 11-3 lead at the 15:31 mark.
The Quakers were able to fight back and they went ahead 21-20 when
Jazmynne Cunningham (Springfield, OH, North) scored with 5:23 left in the first period.
However, Heidelberg ended the half with a 16-5 run to lead 36-26 at the intermission.
In the second half, the Quakers were able to work back into the contest. Sells got the Quakers close at 48-46 when she scored with 9:43 remaining, but Heidelberg was able to maintain its distance the rest of the way.
Earlham (1-2) competes in the Marietta College Turkey Shoot this weekend. The Quakers face Marietta on Saturday at 8 p.m.
