Quakers Take on Ravens

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. — A late run in the final minutes proved to be the difference on Saturday as Anderson University defeated the Earlham College women's basketball team 61-55.

The score was tied 45-45 at the 7:40 mark of the second half before the Ravens finished the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest with a 16-10 run.

JaLissa Watt (St. Louis, MO, St. Elizabeth Academy ) led the Quakers with 16 points, while Bria Sneed (Indianapolis, IN, University) added 14 points against the Ravens (2-6, 2-2) on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.

Watt, Emily Sells (Winchester, IN, Winchester) and Karmell Brown (Columbus, OH, Columbus School for Girls) led the Quakers with four rebounds each.

Sells added five assists and four steals. Sneed also contributed four steals to go with three assists.  

Earlham started the afternoon with an 8-1 lead when Sneed hit a 3-pointer with 16:29 left in the first period.

Anderson rallied but the Quakers had an answer for each run until the Ravens were able to tie the game at 27-27 with 1:54 remaining in the opening frame.

The Ravens were able to finish the half by hitting 3-of-4 from the free throw line to take a 30-27 lead into the intermission.

In the second half, Anderson opened a 39-32 advantage by the 15:55 mark.

The Quakers followed with nine points in a row to take a 41-39 lead when Watts scored with 10:49 left to play.

From that point, the game was tied three more times with the last coming at 45-45 to set the stage for the decisive run by the Ravens.

The Quakers (1-9, 0-4) finish the 2012 portion of their schedule at home on Tuesday against St. Mary-of-the-Woods College. The non-conference game is at 5 p.m.
