EC Falls in Senior Day Contest

Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. The Earlham College women's basketball team finished the season Saturday with a 56-41 loss to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference opponent Manchester College. 
 
Before the contest, Earlham celebrated Senior Day to honor Nikki Darrett (Evansville, IN, Bosse), Princess Darnell (Greenwood, IN, Bishop Chatard), and Kate Franks (Hopewell, OH, West Muskingum ) on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center. 
 
Darrett finished her four-year career with the Quaker's with 1,063 points, which puts her at eighth on the all-time scoring list for Earlham.
 
Bria Sneed (Indianapolis, IN, University) scored a team-high 11 points during the contest and she also grabbed four rebounds. 
 
Charvonne Long (Edwardsville, IL, Edwardsville) added 10 points and eight rebounds, while Karmell Brown (Columbus, OH, Columbus School for Girls) scored seven points and led the team with 10 rebounds. 
 
Manchester took an early 6-1 lead with 15:31 left in the first half. The Spartan's largest lead of the first half was 10 points, which occurred with 9:52 (13-3) and 2:37 (19-9) on the clock. 
 
Earlham was able to cut the lead to four points in the first half, sparked by Sneed's 3-pointer with 0:29 seconds left in the half, which made the score 21-17 at the intermission. 
 
The Spartans (17-8, 13-5) scored first in the second half, but two consecutive shots by the Brown and Long brought the score to 23-21 with 18:50 left in the game. 
 
With 16:06 on the clock, Emily Sells (Winchester, IN, Winchester) hit a lay-up to make the score 27-25. However, Manchester answered with a 12-4 run, which made the score 39-29 with 9:33 left in the game.
 
By the 3:25 mark of the second half, Manchester built a 48-36 advantage and the Spartans were able to hold on the rest of the game.
 
The Quakers end the season at 4-21 overall and 2-16 in the HCAC.
