RICHMOND, Ind. — Energy and intensity was part of the plan on Wednesday as the Earlham College women's basketball team defeated Bluffton University 71-59 on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.
"I am so unbelievably proud of our team," Earlham Head Coach Melissa Johnson said. "Every player that stepped on the court brought the energy and intensity we needed to beat a good Bluffton team."
The Quakers had four players in double digits led by
Emily Sells (Winchester, IN, Winchester), who finished career-high 17 points, six rebounds and four assists.
Kasin Spay (Muncie, IN, Delta) had 13 points and a game-high five assists.
Charvonne Long (Edwardsville, IL, Edwardsville) tossed in 11 points.

Bluffton (9-9, 4-7) got to within one point on four occasions, but the Quakers were able to answer and build a 27-21 advantage by intermission.
An offensive spurt to begin the second half gave the Quakers a wide margin as they scored nine straight points points to lead 36-21 as Sells capped the run with a 3-pointer at 17:50.
The Beavers finally scored to make it 36-23 with 17:02 left in the game.
The Quakers were able to maintain their advantage until Bluffton was able to rally to make it 53-47 with 5:27 remaining, but that was as close as the Beavers could get.
Earlham responded by scoring on its next three straight possessions to widen the gap to 59-47 with 3:59 to go.
After
Karmell Brown (Columbus, OH, Columbus School for Girls) scored with 3:30 left to play, the Quakers didn't have a field goal the rest of the way. However, the Quakers converted 10-of-12 free throws to put the game away.
The Quakers (3-15, 2-9) visit Anderson University on Saturday. The conference contest gets underway at 1 p.m.
