BLUFFTON, Ohio — The Earlham College women's basketball team dropped a 72-64 decision on Wednesday at Bluffton University.
Kasin Spay (Muncie, IN, Delta) scored a career-high 20 points for the Quakers in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference contest. She also had five assists and three steals.
JaLissa Watt (St. Louis, MO, St. Elizabeth Academy ) and
Emily Sells (Winchester, IN, Winchester) finished with 10 points each. Watt added six rebounds and three steals.
Charvonne Long (Edwardsville, IL, Edwardsville) tossed in eight points and grabbed six rebounds.
Raven Bryant-Williams (Columbus, OH, Northland) had six rebounds, while
Bria Sneed (Indianapolis, IN, University) had five assists and three steals.
Bluffton (7-7, 2-5) got off to a quick start with a 9-2 lead at the 17:45 mark of the first half.
The Quakers were able to cut the deficit to two points on three occasions with the last time coming with 14:48 to go in the opening period.
By intermission, the Beavers held a 42-33 advantage.
In the second half, Bluffton was able to build a double digit lead before the Quakers rallied.
A 3-pointer by Spay with 5:17 left in the contest made it 64-58, but that was as close as the Quakers to get the rest of the way.
Earlham (2-12, 1-6) is at Hanover College on Saturday. The HCAC game gets underway at 3 p.m.
