Box Score RICHMOND, Ind. â€" The Earlham College women's basketball team picked up its first win of the season on Saturday as the Quakers defeated Wilmington College 80-75 on Schuckman Court in the Athletics and Wellness Center.

"It was good to get our first win of the season as we were close in our first few games," Earlham Head Coach Melissa Johnson said. "While we are happy, we are anything but satisfied."

"There were multiple times in the second half where we didn't play the type of basketball we know we can play," Johnson added. "I am proud that down the stretch we gritted our teeth and figured out how to win."

The Quakers had three players in double figures as they led the entire contest. Bria Sneed led the way with 21 points, eight assists and four steals, while Kasin Spay tossed in 20 points. Maya Luney added 10 points and six rebounds.

Hannah Franklin contributed nine points and Raven Bryant-Williams had eight points with a team-high seven rebounds.

Earlham started the contest with an 8-0 spurt that was capped by a basket by Franklin at the 17:57 mark of the first half.

When Sneed drilled a 3-pointer at 16:47 the Quakers led 11-2. Spay gave the Quakers a 17-4 advantage with a score at 10:13.

Later in the period, Spay hit a trey that put the Quakers on top 30-11 with 4:00 remaining. The Quakers were in front 39-22 by intermission.

In the second half, Wilmington began to cut into Earlham's lead. With 14:20 left in the contest, Wilmington was down 42-36.

The Quakers were able to answer and Luney's basket at 9:36 of the second period made it 56-42.

However from that time, Wilmington was able to rally and close the gap to two points twice with the last time coming at 74-72 with 47 seconds left to play.

In the last 26 seconds, the Quakers were able to maintain their edge with a basket and a pair of free throws from Spay to go with the final two free throws by Sneed.

The Quakers (1-3) open their Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference schedule at home on Wednesday against Bluffton University at 7:30 p.m.
